Need for alternative resources

I cant understand why the current UPA government wants the nuclear deal. Rather than having a deal with the Americans why not they think of the alternative resources such and wind and solar energy. To me the CPI which is otherwise a waster party, is doing a tough stand in this issue. I appreciate them.
